WRITE-3: Responsive Writing

Making creative use of influence from professional writers

What is Responsive Writing?

The Responsive Writing examination invites candidates to study a stimulus text, with the purpose of finding thematic and stylistic approaches that they can employ in their own writing.
They will produce one piece of creative writing from a choice of prompts. And they will write a critical commentary in which they reflect on their own practice as writers, including their use of influences from the stimulus text.
WRITE-3 is a 3-hour examination and comprises 25% of the marks for the AFA in Creative Writing.
